Arctic Cat 250 1999 model - Boot issue
mikeexplorer replied to zancat's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
I know with newer models to replace an outboard boot (closest to the tire) you do indeed have to remove the inboard boot (diff side) Fortunately I have only torn up inboard boots so far but now I am sure I jinked myself Mike -

The cost to ship a few diodes would be far more then the cost of the diodes. -
2005 Artcic Cat 500 - Electrical/Winch Problem
mikeexplorer replied to flea13's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
More likely the battery itself is weak and could not handle the large draw the winch put on it. Same thing happened to me plowing snow, pod flashed "volt" when winching the plow up and this was with a charged battery. The stock batteries suck, I replaced mine with a better aftermarket one and never had problems with it since. Mike -
2007 Arctic Cat 700 efi - Fan Diode Location
mikeexplorer replied to kurbis's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
Radio Shack does not sell a 10 amp diode but they do sell 5 amp ones and what you can do is they come in a 4 pack or something like that. Solder two in parallel and that will double the current it can handle. Make sure you have the polarity correct when replacing it. Swampcat is right, the diode is inside the wire harness near where the fan connection mates into the harness. Mike -
2007 Arctic Cat - Fuel Pump Problem?
mikeexplorer replied to Bluetrapper's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
Never had an issue with my '07 fuel pump, I would also check the fuel lines and vacuum line for cracks and leaks. Mike -
Find the lead from the relay to the starter motor and put a meter to it and ground. Press the start button and you should read 12 volts from it. If that is a no-go, then pull off the smaller connection (that comes from the button and test it for voltage when you press the button. I just recently replaced mine because it was failing. Attached is a picture (from an Arctic Cat) but any quad should be similar. Mike

arctic cat 06 tbx 400 4x4 starting issue
mikeexplorer replied to flattracker450's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
Look above in this form for my post on extracting and printing schematics. There is a link for where you can get the service manual and wiring diagram for free. From your description of the problem I would suspect one of the diodes in your fuse block is either blown out or shorted out. (maybe one is in backwards?) Mike -
2005 Arctic Cat 500cc - Will Not Start
mikeexplorer replied to Cowboyffa84's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
I broke the boot on the 366 model and the option was to either replace the boot or replace the whole thing (coil, wire, and boot) for like $4 more. Seems like in his case from the diagram he can just replace the wire and the boot, the coil for his machine is a lot more money then it was for the 366 model. -

2000 Arctic Cat 500 - Electrical Problem
mikeexplorer replied to cody1 's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
Look at this thread. http://www.quadcrazy.com/atvforum/arctic-cat-atv-forum/10091-extract-print-arctic-cat-atv-schematics.html You can get the schematic for the machine there and the thread shows you how to print it out. You need a meter to check the fuses, they may look ok, but you could have still blown one. Next I would check the ignition switch and if possible jump it out to test it. Mike -
Ideas for Trailer Theft Prevention (yours)
mikeexplorer replied to Senator's topic in ATV Trailers, Haulers, and Attachments
12 volts wouldn't shock anything. Unless you have that battery wired to something like an electric fence unit to boost the voltage up (and lower the current so it isn't lethal) Mike- 23 replies

The Bucktail Medical Center Relay for Life Team along with the community is planning the 2nd Annual ATV ride which is slated for June 9th. This event honors cancer survivors and those who have lost their battles. This ride will start in Renovo, PA at the Heritage Park lot traveling to the “Bloody Skillet” parking lot on DeHaas Road and back - an estimated 50 mile jaunt. For this day we will have local vendors, organizations, and businesses will have stands avaible hoping to make it a community day. **All participants will receive a t-shirt and meal for joining this event** This is a great event for a good cause. I attended it last year and there was plenty of time after the event to hit the state trails to ride some more. Event info and registration is here. Depending on the machine, some have a screen pan. I stripped my plug on my machine and simply replaced the screen pan. ($40) Diagram shown is an Arctic Cat. -
2006 Arctic Cat 400 - Blowing Main Fuse Under Load
mikeexplorer replied to Prossygk's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
I recently had a situation on a ride where I was going through an old railroad tunnel and hit a puddle and BLAM! quad died right in the tunnel. After being towed out my main fuse was blown. Replaced it and all seemed fine until I switched on my lights, then the main blew again. Replaced it and rode back without using the lights. Next day everything was fine. Took the headlight connections apart and cleaned & greased them. I would think it is a similar situation, multiple loads, none of which would blow the associated fuse but together drawing a bit too much and blows the main. One thing you can do is the next time it blows one, look at it carefully, if it looks like the strip inside just melted then it is an overload condition, if it vaporized, that means a short circuit. That would most likely be a wire in the harness in the rear section of the quad. You mentioned a tow behind mower and such, does it draw any power from the quad? (hooks up to the rear accessory port?) Mike -
Warn winch, works well.

NEED HELP 05 Arctic Cat 500 4x4 problem!!!!
mikeexplorer replied to bones's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
Sounds like his fuel tank is in the rear and he won't have a shut off valve. He was describing a fuel pump system. I can vouch for seafoam as well. good stuff to use. Mike
