    if you have the old battery, try hooking it up even if it wont start it, just to see if the lights come on in the dash. if you have a voltage meter, test the battery if it shorted out, usually it will go as far as the voltage regulator for damage, but 5 minutes ... i dont know, hopefully not to cdi box ...

    what year is it? hopefully you never fried any component ... if the fuses took the shock, you might be ok ...

    probably a dirty carb. you must have decent spark for it to idle. maybe try some sea-foam in the gas tank or take the carb apart and soak it and blow it out ,,,
