  1. Its no problem, most people have done dumb things, like the kill switch is on and don't know why it won't start kinda things. It happens, all that matters is you found the problem. Mike
  2. The "Belt" indicator was for the V-twins with the Kawasaki motor. From your description that does not sound right. Sounds like the pod got messed up I don't think your machine has a belt sensor. It meant it was time to change the belt. You have t find out what happened why it wouldn't start back up. Your battery could have just up and died. Mike
  3. Looking at the schematic, the output from the regulator / rectifier connects to a "red splice" in the harness which is a main hot wire lead. Although the ACC fuse is on that circuit as well, it also branches to the main 30amp fuse. The only way to know if the regulator is sucking power off the battery is to disconnect it and see if that draw on the battery drops. Mike
  4. You need to measure how much current is being drawn by the battery. Set the meter to amps and do what you did to the battery wire. You need to find out how much current is being drawn. It is normal for the pod to use a very small amount to keep the clock going, but it will not draw down a battery overnight. The ACC fuse is for your accessories including the display of the pod. It is common for the winch control, hand warmers to be attached to the accessory circuit. There is usually a 2 prong connector under your steering column for these accessories. If you have a winch and/or handwarmers. Disconnect them and see if the current drops to almost nothing. You could also have rubbed through wires near the steering post, but I would check the above first. Mike
  5. You could just buy an Arctic Cat super duty diesel quad. Probably would be cheaper then trying to modify a gas engine. Diesel 700 Super Duty » Arctic Cat
  6. Or the bearing in the clutch cover
  7. It does sound like the ignition switch is bad, its easy to replace and not expensive, but you have to get one from a Cat dealer, or order online at Country Cat Mike
  8. normal thread, lefty-loosie, impact wrench is the best way to remove it.
  9. Diaphragm in the carb might be bad
  10. 10mm X 1.25 is the thread. Remove the hub and heat up the area with a torch and you should be able to pop them out. Mike
  11. The sticky posts above have a link where you can download the wiring diagrams for free. You will see a small draw because the pod needs it to maintain the clock. Mike
  12. Something is preventing the float needle from closing off. Could be a bit of debris inside
  13. Try disconnecting the battery overnight, then before connecting them back to the battery, touch them together. That will reset the pod.
  14. You can look up parts from country cat here: CountryCat.com
  15. 3rd annual event at Lost Trails ATV Park, Dunmore, PA Attached flyer has the details
  16. I use the Garmin Oregon 450t which allows loading custom maps into it. Mine came with the US 100K topo maps already installed (hence the "t") Mike
  17. Lost Trails does not have rentals, but they do have wildcat and ATV tours where they provide the machines and everything. Ride Lost Trails | Lost Trails ATV Adventures| ATV Park | Off Road Vehicles Ride Lost Trails | Lost Trails ATV Adventures| ATV Park | Off Road Vehicles Mike
  18. Thanks much for ur reply. Couple questions: 1) how do I know if my atv is a 400 act or 400 fis? FIS is "Fully Independent Suspension" if you have cv joints and two springs in the rear, it is an FIS model. 2) how do I test functionality of auto choke electricly? Everything else is working as it should. It is not an electrical part, the warming of the engine shuts it off. 3) would it damage the carb/engine if I sprayed (sparingly) BG carb cleaner in the air intake as a last ditch effort before overhauling/replacing carb. I have already put a few oz of seafoam in the gas tank which actually did help a little bit? Try a stronger dose of Seafoam, it may clear the problem up. I have done this with good results. I also add a dash of Seafoam every other tankful. 4) any info on removing front axles from differential as noted in 1st post in this thread ? Here is a step by step guide with pictures. I used this guide myself CV Boot replacement with pics - ArcticChat.com - Arctic Cat Forum Thanks for the help!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. I would use the gift card to help repair the damage caused by this roll. I guess Cats don't always land on their paws. Mike
  20. Yeah got that one too, I am sure its too good to be true :roflc:
  21. I cannot directly post the schematic because the file is too big. To reduce it to attach it would make it unreadable. Instead you can get the schematic and print it out here with this procedure. http://www.quadcrazy.com/atvforum/arctic-cat-atv-forum/10091-extract-print-arctic-cat-atv-schematics.html From looking at the schematic. and if I understand what you mean, the quad will shut right off once the starter button is released? This would also mean your cranking the starter continuously. (not a good thing to do) I would check a few things. - Make sure the ground wires are secure and making good contact - Check the "neutral relay" it may be defective. - There is a diode that might also be bad, used as part of the starter circuit. - Check fuse #6 (accessory) Mike
  22. The high current leads go directly to the battery for the winch. You should have two cables on each terminal. They will lead down to the direction relay that controls the winch's direction. Attached is the wiring diagram for a typical warn winch. Mike
  23. I am sure it will be purring like a kitten
  24. Sounds like a good price for the work being done. You should be in good shape after that. Should have many trouble free miles.
