1998 Honda Recon valve adjustment HELP!!
DirtDemon replied to mike13ortega's topic in Honda ATV Forum
Nice to have recources like that, a picture is worth a thousand words. Nice work RMH. -
Seems like that wouldn't make any noise unless it was in gear and trying to move, he said it makes the noise in neutral too. I have seen other members have the problem you are talking about though, it is quite common on those machines

1998 Arctic Cat 454 4x4 (Water in Engine)
DirtDemon replied to jfkkhi's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
Sounds like you need to pop that head off, my money is on the head gasket. -
I am going to move this to the Honda forum since this is more of a techincal problem post than the beginning of a project. Feel free to post a project thread if you like, tell us how it started, post before and after pics, update on any progress, stuff like that. BTW, I responded to your message, you can reply to me directly if you like, but there are alot of smart people here one of our new moderators has been a Honda and Yamaha tech for years. So you may have better luck posting in this forum so that we can get some other brains in on the action. I also noticed that there is a stickied thread in this forum with some manual downloads, it would be worth a few minutes of your time to browse through the list and see if he has the one you need.

I received the greatest present in the world
DirtDemon replied to Stoopidbot1's topic in General Talk - Anything Goes!
Congrats to you both, a baby Bot is on the way. Good show sir, good show. -
I merged this with your last thread on the same topic, if the subject hasn't changed you can keep posting in the same thread. The '03-'07's are all the same, there are 5 models, the K3;K4;K5;K6;and K7. The K3 and K4 have a different frame and used both subframes, some had the permanent grab bar, and some used the one with the removable grab bar. The K5, K6 and K7 use a slightly different frame and only had the option of the removable grab bar. In '08 and '09 there is only one model and they all use a subframe with a removable grab bar. I would think that any subframe from '03-'07 would work, but since the frame #'s are different, the only way to be sure is to get the one off of a K3 or K4 model with the removable grab bar.

Another thing you might want to check for is intake air leaks, if you are pulling extra air from somewhere around the carb it will make the machine run lean. If there are leaks, they need to be fixed before doing anything else.
-
Since you get the noise even when the machine is in neutral, I would think that the clutches and belts would be a good place to start looking for problems.

That's not fair, I want an Excursion snomobile!

Anytime Bruce.

All years are the same from 1989 to 2004. Same oil filter part # and same cover part #. Good luck.

I was wondering if we were going to hear from you again, I am glad you got it fixed. That is the most important thing. Have fun with it.- 18 replies

Mery Christmas and a Happy New Year to you as well. As far as Santa stopping by, I will see if I can put in a good word for you.

I think Ajmboy means a trailer that you pull with your ATV, not one that you put your ATV into.

No worries, all is well, good luck with your winch hunting.

It is back to the usuall here, freezing when there are no clouds and warms up when the clouds roll in. We hardly ever get freezing temps and precipitation at the same time here on the Pacific coast. We are supposed to get a little more action this year than we usually do, unfortunately that doesn't just mean snow, it also means storms; wind, flooding and, as usual, lots of rain.

Isn't there a rule about moderating on more than one site? If chosen, would he be expected to step down from his other moderator position? Just a question, I am not saying he shouldn't be considered. I love the avatar, I think that alone is qualification enough for a moderator spot.

1992 Honda Fourtrax TRX 300 A; Moose Hand Shifter
DirtDemon replied to Fourtrax_300's topic in Honda ATV Forum
Thanks, that is what I was thinking. I will add it to the title. -
I know next to nothing about what winches are best for which ATV's, I am a sport/race guy all the way. But I do know that Warn is the most popular name when it comes to winches, if I were to buy a winch for my Blazer, it would definately be a Warn. So I think you are on the right track there. I am sure someone with some experience in this area will chime in at some point, hopefully soon.

I had mentioned Gearhead when we were talking about possibly adding to the mod team a while ago in the mod lounge. I think he definately has potential to make a good addition.

HELP!!! 2000 Kawasaki Mojave won't run.
DirtDemon replied to mike13ortega's topic in Kawasaki ATV Forum
Probably not, if you connected the two wires that go into the key switch, you have effectively bypassed it. I would seriously just get a manual, you will want to have it anyway. The factory repair manuals are a bit spendy, but worth it. However, you can find cheaper manuals like Clymer manuals, for around $20-$30, still well worth the money. -
Flipping Tie Rod End's. (Polaris Sportsman)
DirtDemon replied to PolarisRich's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
I see, so in the picture, the suspension was hanging as low as it will ever go. I did notice the shiny spot on the front of the spindle where you filed it down. That being said, this process does seem like a good, cheap way to fix, what I assume is a common problem with adding larger tires to these machines. Nice of you to post this tutorial. -
1992 Honda Fourtrax TRX 300 A; Moose Hand Shifter
DirtDemon replied to Fourtrax_300's topic in Honda ATV Forum
In that situation, I guess it would make things eaier on you. Plowing snow is one thing, I just would not recommend one for off-road/recreational riding. Concerning the model, a TRX 300EX techincally fits your description, it is a 300cc Fourtrax 2x4, however, the EX is a sport quad. I am assuming that your machine is a utility type quad. It should have a model name like TRX 300 A or TRX 300 AN, do you know which one it is? -
Well, I am sure you would make a good addition, I am one who ceartainly understands the difficulties that life can throw at you and the time that they can consume. I know we have lost a several moderators over the last several months, we could definately use some more folks who can give good technichal advise, I know I would like to see more feedback for members who are looking for such help. If you feel that you can add some help there, I would fully suppport giving you a chance. Maybe Admin and QC will see things the same way.

Check ebay, BTW, I wasn't making a joke when I posted those torque specs, as far as I know those are correct. I would still try to find a manual though, they make things alot easier. Good luck with everything.
