parts needed for 1990 - 2005 Suzuki LT160
DirtDemon replied to Pumpkin472's topic in Suzuki ATV Forum
Not sure what you mean by "cap" or "cap holder", but you can find new bolts for pennies at your local hardware store. -
No problem, good luck.

You need to go down in size, not up. I would aquire all sizes from 160 to 170, you need to be able to adjust for temp changes. I would start at 165 and go from there. If you had to turn your screw out 5 1/2 turns just to get it to start, then your pilot jet is too rich. You will need to run a leaner pilot too. The engine should idle highest at 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 turns out, use a pilot that gives you that result. You will probably also want to move the needle clip up one spot. If you have to run it with the clip in the top spot, then you might try a needle with a leaner taper.

Here is a link to a parts fische. Use the dropdown menu to look up your model, lood for an '85, I couldn't find an '84 250. Select "crankcase cover" from the dropdown menu, you are looking at part #18 on the list. It is almost $100 and these guys have some of the best prices for online OEM parts. You might find it a little cheaper at Servicehonda.com, but probably won't be much different. Most machines come with a half-as* sort of case saver, but they don't work that well. A good quality case saver is worth it's weight in gold. Here is a link to the ones that Rocky Mountain ATV has. http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/vehicleFilter.do?prevVehicleType=1&prevMake=7&prevModel=65&keyword=&vehicleTypeId=1&make=7&model=65&applyFilter=Change+Vehicle&year=2003&navTitle=Drive&webCatId=9&navType=type&webTypeId=68&uri=%2FtypeDetail.do

The car pulls the trailer, but you have to ride the hell out of the clutch to get it moving, and the as* end squats pretty good so the rear tires rub constantly. He does have a single quad trailer that he pulls around with that Kia, he towed his 450R up here from Portland with it. We decided not to use it to go from WA to OR, we would have to be crazy to tow with that thing in CO or TN, it wouln't go 100ft without overheating in hot weather out there.

There are a few places up here where we can get that, all of the military bases have it too. -
Try dropping a tooth or two in the rear. Going up one in the front will probably be more than what you want. One tooth in the rear should give you a slight bit more top end, and you probably won't notice the loss of bottom end power. If you go down two teeth in the rear, you will notice a pretty decent gain in top speed, but you will also definately notice the loss of low end.

I am not anti-immigration, but I am definately anti-illegal. There is a proper channel for people who want to become citizens of this country. It seems to me, offering jobs and assistance to illegals is a slap in the face of those who actually took the time to become properly naturalized, and came to this country legally. I am tired of hearing people complain when someone actually wants to stand up and deny health care and financial assistance to illegals. We can't even afford our own free-loaders, we don't need to cater to those who are here illegally too. There is a purpose for the welfare system in this country, and I have no problem with giving someone a helping hand during hard times. I cannot, however, support the gross abuse of those who take advantage of the welfare system in this country.

1999 Kawasaki Lakota 300 primary clutch removal?
DirtDemon replied to ninhalo5's topic in Kawasaki ATV Forum
Yes, you would have to take the top end off to split the cases. So I guess that will have to wait untill you tear the motor down. You may do alright for now by just cleaning everything up in the clutches. Maybe buff that surface rust off and make sure everything moves freely. Good luck. -
Nice, a friend of mine who lives right down the street has an S-10 with a 327 in it. It is just a stock motor from a 67 Camaro, but it still hauls as*.

1999 Kawasaki Lakota 300 primary clutch removal?
DirtDemon replied to ninhalo5's topic in Kawasaki ATV Forum
While it is still apart, you might want to take a look at the shift forks and the guide shafts that they slide on. If the forks are bent, or the guide shafts have grooves worn in them, it will cause the forks to catch and make shifting difficult. -
We toyed witht he idea of using my friends Kia Rio to pull our quads down to Winchester Bay. Figured we could still get a good 20mpg out of it, but we decided that we didn't want to replace the clutch 2 or 3 times on the way down and back.

Check out this site, if you want to try and keep up with your friends, it will take alot of work, but these guys can help you not fall too far behind. For $830, you can get a whole new worked over top end, they will even install the new cam and set the valve lash, when you get it all you will need to do is bolt it on. You will probably need a good aftermarket exhuast and a bigger carb to go with it, you will probably be into it for $1000 plus. If you just want to do the piston, they can do that for you too, they will bore & hone the cylinder, and send you the piston and a top end gasket set for $270. There are also several other kits for your Warrior, check them out and see what fits in your budget. Yamaha Warrior performance kit.

It is a common problem on any machine that has thrown the chain. Check the shifter shaft for marks on the top that look like the chain has gouged into it, also check to see if the shaft is bent. I would recommend getting that crack welded up, if the part comes off completely, you will lose all your oil and I'm sure I don't need to tell you why that would be bad. Also, a good case saver will prevent things like that, and are a must on any chain driven machine IMO.

Chinese brand 200 ST; fuel running out of carb.
DirtDemon replied to st200's topic in Other ATV Brands Forum
I changed the title to try and be as descriptive as possible with the info given. I agree 100% with Bot, that sounds like a stuck float to me too. I would take the carb apart and check the float adjutment and for any debris that may be causing the float needle to hang up. -
That is a nice clean Blazer you got there. I too have an S-10 Blazer sitting on 33's, it's older and looks a little rough, but it gets the job done. It has a solid axle conversion, a narrow track Jeep Wagoneer donated a Dana 44 front and AMC model 20 rear. I plan to put a small block in it soon, just looking for a tranny.

1999 Polaris Sportsman shuts off when gets hot
DirtDemon replied to jon_b's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
When you say no fire, I assume you mean no spark, which means the problem is not fuel related. If the problem is no spark when it gets hot, you need to address the other components of your ignition system. CDI, pickup coil, stator, maybe even the regulator/rectifier. BTW, I added the year, make and model to the thread title, please include this info in the future when you start a new thread. If you could also post the engine size so that can be added too. -
I am guessing that the starter is mounted on the bottom of the crankcase. I am also assuming that you can see the starter just not the bolts that hold it in place. If they aren't on the outside, then you may need to take the side cover off and un bolt it from inside, you may also need to remove the flywheel to get to all the mounting bolts. I would strongly recommend a repair manual, they are worth the money and can save you from making mistakes.

So 5 gallons per mile is probably about right then. A friend of ours has a boat much like that, it is getting a blown 426 Hemi, can't wait for him to finnish it, looks like a real rush. -
I have not paid federal income tax in almost 8 months, and I am considering just stopping all together. I have been quite unhappy with our federal government over the last 9 years and frankly don't think they deserve my hard earned money. Now, if they were to start being responsible with my contributions, I would not have a problem with paying my part. I wonder how long I can get away with it before they come looking for thier money?

Hello Jason, hopefully you enjoy your quads as much as the rest of us. Please feel free to pick our brains if you have any questions.

Welcome to the site, the Z400 is a good choice. It is a good quad to learn on, but will still provide good performance when you want to start riding a little harder.
