  1. Take the carb apart and clean EVERYTHING well. Check for worn parts or gaskets. Make sure all passages are clear.
  2. First thing I would do is drain and clean the tank and petcock. Then check the float adjustment, and plunger. If the float is improperly adjusted it may be letting too much fuel in the bowl hence the fuel in the carb body. If there is any crud built up on the stopper causing it to stick, or it is not seating properly, fuel will still flow into the float bowl causing it to flood. What part of Washington are you from?
  3. You may have a short somewhere, or maybe your new battery is no good. It should be reading 12+ volts. There could also be a problem with the charging system. Check the output from the charge wire coming out of the regulator/rectifier.
  4. Changed title and moved thread into proper forum.
  5. You should be ok still at 1500 feet, but you may want to drop the main jet one size if you go up past that. You may also raise your needle clip one notch and adjust the air screw. You may or may not want to drop the pilot one size too, if it runs a little sluggish on the bottom end, then drop the pilot too.
  6. Here is an updated pic of my LT-R, I have added a few goodies.
  7. I renamed the thread. I think that you will likely find your problem in the carb, I think your float might not be adjusted properly.
  8. Your best bet may be to go to an online parts dealer and order the parts you need. Gaskets, diaphragms, float pin, anything in the carb that looks like it is getting worn. I like Babbits online parts.
  9. Yup, sounds like a weak battery.
  10. I like it, I think it is pretty sharp. Comparing a Grand Cherokee to a CJ is like comparing apples to oranges. They are built for a completely different purpose.
  11. The piston size should not make enough of a difference to matter. From the sound of it, you are on the right track with the pilot jet. It sounds like all your problems are happening in the range that would be affected by the pilot, so I would replace the jet with a new one and see if that works.
  12. Then everything went on the bike.
  13. I then fabbed up some other parts, using a 1/2" bolt with a nylon lock nut, and some 1/4" steel plate. I drilled a 1/2" hole through the skid plate and frame. After fitting and tacking everything in place on the machine, I took everything off and finnished welding everything together and put a few coats of paint on.
  14. After a bit of grinding, I had a tube that would fit in the ends of the nerfs.
  15. 3/4" pipe was too small, and 1" was too big to fit in the end of the bars, so I wrapped some 1/16" flat bar around the 3/4" pipe and ground it down to fit inside the nerf tubes. First, I welded one end to the pipe. Then I wrap the bar around the pipe as tightly as I can. Cinch it down with a pipe wrench and score a slot in the end whith a dremel. Then break it off and weld up the other end.
  16. So, I was killing some time at a dealership near my work while I was waiting to meet a friend. I wandered into the clearance room and found these sitting in a box labeled missing mounting hardware. They had the footpeg mounts, just missing the front frame mounts, I picked them up for $80.
  17. When you going to send the stuff off to be PC'd?
  18. If you get a bad batch of gas, a month is long enough for a little varnish to build up in the carb. Checking an cleaning the carb shouldn't cost you anything, so I would still start therer. Also check any rubber parts like diaphragms and o-rings for problems. Also, look at the float plunger, it could be hanging up and not letting fuel in the carb. If you don't find any issue in the carb, you are probably looking at a bad CDI, pickup coil, or some other type of ignition problem.
  19. Have you tried a multimeter set to test continuity?, you can check both ends of a wire, switch or circuit for continuity. I would start by testing the start button, test it with the button depressed ofcourse.
  20. I have seen their products, and they seem well made to be, but I have never seen them in action. However, I do know that Burgard makes a good, solid product for the money also, I have a set of +2 up 1, arms on my 500R, $350 for arms and tie rods, and they back their stuff up, if I bend or break one, they will replace it at no cost.
  21. Has it ever sat for a long period of time? If so, I would guess that the carb needs a good cleaning.
  22. I agree with Ajmboy, if it is a fuel issue, something hanging the float up seems really likely. There could be a tiny piece of debris catching the float plunger and keeping it from dropping, or it may just be a bit worn and sticking in the seat. I would start by taking the carb apart and do a good cleaning on EVERYTHING make sure to clean out all the jets, fuel passages and vent holes. Also, make sure every thing is bolted up tight when you put it back together, if you are sucking air in from anywhere, it can affect the fuel uptake in the carb and cause a lean condition too which is bad. If none of that seems to help, you may be looking at a possible ignition problem.
