On the newer ones timing is adjustable with a key but if it was running fine before I would stay away from major mods until you get it running again. Keep the jetting and the timing as well as any other changes for later when you have it running and can see what each change does. Does the motor crank over fine?

Ok I am throwing this back to the top. Lets start fresh a pick a day in the summer (2013) most of us can make.

Those ruts must be deep I have a hard time getting stuck with those tires. Thanks for sharing.

It is never too cold to ride. Rides just get shorter lol. Good luck with the new toy.

Change the spark plug anyways, sometimes it will spark outside but not under compression. Also try starting the quad in netural. Also make sure the battery is 100% charged. Valve lash would be another thing to look into as stated above. Don't worry 7k for an arctic cat is nothing. I would also try heating the motor to see if it is just the cold weather do you have it in a garage? If not put a tarp over it with a large lightbulb under the tarp for a while and that should help.

The back tires are wider so they can grab the sides of the ruts/mud and not slip in the track cleared by the front tires. I however run the same tires back and front for the ATVS and they do fine. On the 500 I run 10s and on the 650 I run 12s (Don't try this at home). And to get a good deal on tires you can always look used. I got all 4 tires with about 80% left for under $500.

I think it is similar to the 2007s and it should be under the seat. It is round and runs off a vacuum from the carb boot.

I would check the voltage on the battery if you are using a winch to lift the plow. A low battery sometimes makes the ecu do werid things. Also if you listen close you can hear the fuel pump if it is working and rule that out.

How was it running in the summer? I know the cold weather leans it out but not that much.

Just make sure parts are still available before you buy it.

I would check first for air leaks or torn boots before the carb or airbox. Is the lid on your airbox? Did you snorkel the quad or replace/modify the muffler? Also how cold is it there. If it was running fine before lets start threre.

Once you take the "pumpkin" apart do you see any retaining clips? I would think that maybe the axel has to come out first and then the drive shaft but It was hard to excatally tell not working on these before.

Did u do the slide mod? Make sure the quad is warmed up also so u know your choke is open. That might help. Also make sure your air filter is clean. If you jet now u will have to rejet in the spring.
