  1. I miss my blaster- should never have sold it. good news tho- I bid on 2 up for aution in town here- one complete, one in a box. Man I love those 2 strokes!!! I see both old and new style plastic in yer pics- where did you buy the new style plastic? any trouble installing it? I'd mine to look like my 660r...
  2. It could just be dirt and dust in the brake drum, some Yamahas do it too. Changing brands of brake shoes cured the problem on the Yammers, worth a try on a Hondoo... Since it has a live axle it prob only has one brake drum, on THAT side. Take a close look.
  3. It's more than likely a thing called the ' shift angle sensor' I have replaced HUNDREDS of them over the years. Dealer part, not too expensive... screws into the back of the case above the swingarm. betcha a quarter that's it!
  4. check it for spark. I had a 185 quit and it was the electronic ignition box. The dealers price about gave me a stroke but I found a new one on ebay for $45. It's still running...It's a little guy about the size of a flasher and it's up by the coil. I would recommend a book to adjust the valves cuz that compression release can be a little tricky.
  5. Find a way to buy PB Blaster by the case! I currently have several cables hanging up in the garage...if you keep squirting them eventually the blaster will free them up. It'll save the hunt for new cables. The brakes are just corroded....it's common. the shoes and springs are available on ebay if needed. One atc110 I got had no rear brake function....I opened it up- NO BRAKE shoes or springs! Some pinhead went to all the trouble to disassemble, remove shoes and springs, then reassemble, including the cable! it was 'teenagered' hahaha ya just never know... Seems to me the hardest things to find for 3 wheelers are the headlight switch and the kill button. they seem to break the first time someone flips them..
  6. Hey Unc, we must start and 'old dude' club.... I'm a 54 model and currently have 1 US90, 2 ATC110s, 1 ATC185 and 1 ATC200S, plus my raptor 660 and a Yammer mx100 dirtbike. I like to restore them and tinker with them. As it is, this crappy 'gasoline' is forcing me to kit 3 of them for leaks! Oh well, it's something to do...
  7. more than likely fuel pump. the early 700 raptors had a recall on a bunch of them for the same symptoms... the pump should have a screen on it, not much of a filter I'm afraid. Good Luck.
  8. make sure your parking brake is OFF. 01's have a rev limiter switch on the parking brake on the left control assy. make sure it moves in and out. with the parking brake on it will bark and pop at you. If that little switch is stuck it will think the brake is on....handlebars, LH side. it should run correctly with the switch closed, as in parking brake off. oh be careful backing up the 01- there is NO rev limiter in reverse- it will haul butt in reverse and pitch you right off! LOL in 02 they limited it. STP or race gas [a little] is a good idea to clean out misc crud. you have 2 carbs- buy a book before you go tearing into them! Make sure your choke is turning off as well. sometimes the cable gets cruddy inside and you may think they are off, but not true. How: go to the left handlebar control and sit down under it so you can look up at it. Now work the choke control and make sure the cable is sliding smoothly and not wadding up under the lever. if it is, then follow the choke cable to the carb [sticking out, LH side] unscrew it and pull it straight out. It's a little piston. it may need a little emery cloth to make it slide smoothly in the choke bore. wrap some emery around a drill bit or pencil and slide it in the bore to clean out the white crud that gets in there. It's electrolysis- brass piston against aluminum housing. wish I had a nickel for every one I've cleaned. Hold the cable up in the air and squirt some lube inside it while you're at it. this should fix it.
  9. If you have a 5 gallon can, here's what I do: fill the can with 4 gallons of pump gas and 1 gallon of race FUEL. Since it isn't gasoline, it works just like fuel injector cleaner. It works great! If you need to store it again, just close the petcock and drain the fuel out of the carb. It should be ready to go for next time.
  10. pick a large dealer, go to his site and make sure the part numbers match for 87 and 89. if it does, buy it. UNHOOK THE BATTERY before you plug it in, Just in Case. You don't want to let the smoke out of it right? pluf it in, fire it up. I assume you have checked everything else already?
  11. New quads did not come with a title in OREGON until 2008. Before that, all OHVs, including dirtbikes just didn't have a title. You could register it, but why? Now titles are provided but ppl still sell used stuff without one since it is not required. Utah: file for a new title as a resident. Old title was lost/stolen. The DMV can do a nationwide search in a few seconds WHEN they get around to it. Don't worry about it. search for Utah DMV- they prob have a site that can answer some of your questions. if it's like Oregon, BRING MONEY.
  12. nope this one is typical. adjust valves fresh fuel take your muffler off and try it again, it could be plugged partially. Let us know how it goes.
  13. unless your lug nuts are loose, wheel bearings [or hub assembly on some] are about the only problem it can be. Lots of mud and water right? That means more maintenance.
  14. does it pop-pop-pop as you are off the throttle? if so, too rich. Otherwise, prob too lean, or bring the idle speed up. it is fairly high on a 660, about 1100-1200 rpms. Clean the airfilter too OK? let us know how it goes
  15. voltage regulator. go to a site like procaliber.com- they have parts catalogs and price lists there- you can verify it and price it too.
  16. why is this stuff posted on my home page if all the post mongers are gonna get there first? YOU have SUPERMODS, enjoy them before they burn out like a road flare at a traffic accident. Even the most generous person has a limit.
  17. Riding on muddy roads or in mud bogs, pits and ponds and places like that are COOL! and FUN! BUSTING UP STREAM BEDS IS NOT. Good ole Fisher's ATV is great at doing this on camera, but I've never heard him say he was on PRIVATE property when it was filmed, which he was. [i am told.] stream beds and creek destruction are the #1 ammo against UTILITY ATVs believe me! perhaps you should have bought a bass boat... it's right there on TV! they don't even have to leave the house to convict us ALL . just hit 'record.' and that surely is unfair! As it stands, the east coast guys are giving the west coast guys a bad name: and we already have to deal with Californians fer crissakes....they drive to Oregon to get a breath of fresh air! At least wear a helmet so you don't eat the bars OK? We gotta do something about this or we will all be riding in small circles before long. With this admistration; perception is reality, truth does not matter. Truth and Honesty must be defended. In short, stay out the dam stream beds OK? that's easy enuf. And if you do it, DON'T post it! What are you thinking? I'm not a moderator anymore so I can give you my opinion like a regular member. and that feels pretty good.....
  18. take another picture in six months. seat covers are available for almost anything on ebay, usually $40-50. best way to go. Hope it works for you.
  19. State of Oregon/BLM/USFS trail width is 50 inches MAX. It was announced that at the joker poker run this year UTVs will not be allowed as they are now a class II vehicle. This is the state of oregon trying to impose its will on USFS land. and since the UTVs are not street legal, they must be reclassified as 'farm use only.' NO USE on federal or state lands! I'm sure there will be a fight on this one!
  20. the Blasters really did not change until 03 and that was just plastics. My 02 was identical to your 98.
  21. blue/white, black/white, a very few all black.
  22. I liked AJMBOYs cuz his wheeler has the marks of the past: including a dent in the tank and that Frankenstein zip-tie surgery to the fender LOL.
