2005 Suzuki LTZ 250 Quadsport Driveshaft U-Joint
DirtDemon replied to YJ93's topic in Suzuki ATV Forum
I take it that means you won't be back? If you do return, did you get it fixed before you traded it? -
So then he

Nice truck there "BlueBowtie" which is obviously a Chevy reference, Kristin:wink:. I'm guessing that is a '47 or '48? If you have any questions about your BigBear, please feel free to drop by our branded forums and post there.

I had to go with MWKE's pic because not only do you get a pic of an older machine, he is wearing some awesome gear that goes with the times, and he took the pic off of his tv while playing a VHS tape.

2005 Suzuki LTZ 250 Quadsport Driveshaft U-Joint

Right on, looking forward to hearing how it goes, good luck. -
I think it is on the outside of the case, it may be the plug you are talking about by the oil fill. It should have a couple of screws on either side of it. If it is behind a side cover, or in the case, there will be wires going in to it somewhere.

1985 Suzuki LT250r misfiring then no spark. Help.
DirtDemon replied to tyler250rrocks's topic in Suzuki ATV Forum
Could be the ignition coil too. Could also be a faulty kill switch or a wiring problem. -
I would guess $200-$300 depending on the shop and what all needs to be done. If it needs more than just routine maintinence, you will be looking at more cost. They may not even be able to properly adjust the valves if they are too worn.

1998 Arctic Cat300 4x4 electrial problem
DirtDemon replied to mmsutton's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
I would strongly recommend forking out the cash and buying a repair manual, you don't need to spend all the money on a factory manual, a Clymer or other third party manual will do you just fine. It is well worth the $$$ IMO. Good luck. -
There should be a small dot or arrow on the outside ring of the sprocket.

Check the flywheel key, if it sheared off, the flywheel will spin on the shaft and not stay lined up and you will get spark, but it won't be at the right time. To check and see when you are getting spark, pull the plug ground it against the motor and witht he key and kill switch on, turn the motor slowly with a breaker bar and socket by the flywheel nut. Try to keep it steady, it will want to pop a bit when the piston passes TDC on the compression stroke. The plug should fire just before TDC if the timing is right.
-
It seems like it isn't? Take the plug out and ground it on the motor and turn it over to make sure. If it isn't getting spark, then start checking the ignition components to make sure they are getting power. If they are getting power, then test the components that you can do a direct resistance test on. I would recommend getting a repair manual for testing specs and instructions.

2003 Honda TRX400FA - very stiff to engage drive or reverse
DirtDemon replied to sheepish's topic in Honda ATV Forum
Shift fork could be bent, or guide shaft could be worn. Also, check the linkage, it could be binding up or just need to be cleaned. -
my 2002 400ex just wont start but wants to
DirtDemon replied to 01 RAPPY 660's topic in Honda ATV Forum
The main jet should me screwed in until it is snug, so it sounds like you have it right. I would first try adjusting the pilot screw, it should be on the underside of the carb, in front of the float bowl. Start by turning it all the way in and then back it out 2 turns. See how it works and try adjusting it back and forth to see if there is any improvement. You will also want to make sure the float bowl vent line is not clogged. The tube for it comes right out of the bottom of the float bowl, make sure you can blow air through this line. -
Good luck. I don't know where to find a PDF manual for that machine.

Please tell us what kind of machine this is and what year, someone will move it into the proper forum, and we can discuss it there. Yes the pulsar coil could be your problem, so could the CDI or the ignition coil or something else. It will help a bit to know what you are working on. -
I believe it will be on the left hand side as you are sitting on the machine. There should be timing marks on the flywheel. There should be a bolt that sits over top of the stator that you can take off and see the flywheel, there should be timing marks on the flywheel, there should be a "T" that shows up in the hole where the bolt goes, that will tell you that the motor is at TDC.
-
You are right, it isn't on the linkage, it is mounted on the outside of the case. It should be close to where the shaft that connects to the shift linkage. I think it will be on the right hand side. If you take the switch off, you will see a pin and spring that go into the shift shaft, they are what actually move the switch. Be careful if you remove the switch, the pin and spring will probably fall out. I don't know if this switch has anything to do with reverse though. But it is worth a look to make sure, the gasket is an o-ring, so it should be ok to re-use, just make sure everything is clean.

1987 Yamaha big bear 350 is smoking, need help
DirtDemon replied to Duckin 's topic in Yamaha ATV Forum
If there is oil in the airbox, then your problem may just be a crankcase venting issue, or maybe you just put too much oil in. If there is no sign of oil in the airbox, then your problem is inside the motor and the only way to figure out exactly what it is will be to take the motor apart. It could be valve guides or seals, it could be piston/rings or worn cylinder walls, it could be a blown gasket. Also, there is an o-ring that sits under a collar that goes between the cylinder and crankcase this is to seal off the oil that runs through to the cylinder head. There is also a gasket that goes between the cylinder and the head, it sits inside the a large cutout on the head gasket, this is also to seal off the oil that passes through from the crankcase to the head. If either the o-ring or gasket is bad, then this oil will run into the cylinder. I would strongly suggest purchasing a repair manual. -
Please post the year of your machine so we can add it to the thread title. After you are done with that, pull off the stator cover and check to see it the flywheel key is sheared off.

You are welcome, we are here to help. I believe someone owes me $5, and I think that it is Greenfield Motorsports. Glad to hear that you have finally gotten it figured out, I hope you are riding it again sooner than later. BTW, if those guys need any future help diagnosing problems, refer them to Quadcrazy.com -
Stalling problem with my Suzuki king quad 700
DirtDemon replied to fastf3's topic in Suzuki ATV Forum
Read post #5. To check if this is your problem, you can pull the injector off the top of the throttle body and look at it, also, check the seal while you have it out. Also, make sure all of your electrical connectors are in good shape and plugged in all the way. There is a temp. sensor on your airbox, make sure that is plugged in too. It sounds like you are running lean, so an injector problem is quite likely. I would not ride it again untill you get it fixed. A lean condition can destroy an engine in no time.
