Took a while, but the punch line was worth it, good one. -
He has a My Little Pony? Now that is gay. Although, I did eat some My Little Pony fruit snacks once, while I did not feel fruity afterward, I did find them quite tasty.

Sounds like an ignition issue, likely the CDI, stator or pickup. You need to determine what is missing from the equation when the machine stops running. After it dies check for spark, if you have none, then you know to look toward the ignition system.

Hey now, we are not completely off topic here, the conversation about 3 wheeled vehicles with no practical use is kind of what this thread was started with. Besides, you started the digging trenches idea, and he started the thread, so I think that entitles him to a little room to wander.

Anyone here have any Pull????

I will certainly let you know if you need to bring your Speedo. I plan to make a reservation tomorrow or Saturday, so I will let you know as soon as it is done. -
January/February 2010 ATV Photo Contest
DirtDemon replied to quadcrazy's topic in QUADCRAZY Contests
I think that we should make an exception to that, like I said I think it is important for voters to know what has been modified. The theme is described as" "Best Modified From Original" is basically anything that makes your machine different from factory (OEM) original. This could be addons, mechanical modifications, graphics, exterior accessories (luggage, winches, grips, ...), tires, etc..." I think that alot of the details listed in the contest description might not be noticed or explained well enough by a single pic. For example, if I were to enter my TRX 500R, and the only thing you had to go on was this pic, then most people would not see all of the time, custom fab work and enginuity that has gone into this project. At first glance, it looks like a relatively normal '86 250R with poorly painted plastics. What you may not notice is that the frame is completely hand made from a jig built off of an actual 250R frame, or the extensive modification necessary to stuff a CR 500 motor into it and make all of the intake plumbing squeeze by the rear shock, or that the pipe was actually hand made by some one to fit the 250R frame, but is tuned for a CR 500 motor. You may not notice the +2 400ex a-arms that have been modified to work properly with the KFX 450 shocks, or the custom shock mounts that had to be made from scratch to fit them on the machine. You may not notice the modified kick starter that had to be extended out from the motor in order to clear the rear brake master cylinder, or the brace and custom machined brass bushing that keep the side cover from cracking due to the extra pressure put on it by the kicker sticking out so far from the motor. You cant see inside to see the '87 crank that has a rod that is 5mm longer than the stock '86 crank, and it would be hard to notice the spacer plate machined for me by Cometic gasket co. to compensate for the longer rod. You definately would not notice the hand fabricated adaptors that allow for the use of the twin piston 250R brake calipers on the ex spindles because the ex brakes do not cut the mustard on this machine. You would not be able to tell that the entire rear suspension is actually off of an '85 ATC 250R with the exception of the shock which is one of the only actual factory '86 TRX 250R parts on this machine aside from the front brake calipers plastics, thumb throttle and brake lever/resivior. -

Don't know much about that machine specifically, but I do know that the better you take care of it, the better it will be to you. Hopefully the person you bought it from knew that too. I also highly advise that you have fun with it.

It is quite comfy, my ex brother-in-law asked me to store the trike and the chair for him, then he disappeared. I just got a wild hair and decided to make a chair that I can drive around. That is a nice trench digger, has it ever actually made it up that hillclimb? From what I understand, only like 14 people have ever successfully climbed that hill. BTW, I missed the post where you talked about power being your friend and using throttle control. I understand your philosophy there, I just have a problem with throttle control, I know how it works, I just can't let up sometimes when I know that I should. That is why that much hp in a lighter machine would be such a problem for me.

2003 Polaris Predator 500 rear wheel hub???
DirtDemon replied to CHEAPCRACKER's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
Checked for you, the hub is different, but he axle is the same. This tells me that the hub will fit, but there may be something different about it, could be a different bolt pattern since the wheels are different also. Could also be that the different hubs result in a different track width. Given that, you could probably use the hubs from the '05, but you might need to swap both sides to keep things the same. Check the bolt patterns too. -
January/February 2010 ATV Photo Contest
DirtDemon replied to quadcrazy's topic in QUADCRAZY Contests
Why will all the text be deleted? I would think that a description of the machine is somewhat important. Voters should know how much work has gone into each project. -
This is true, the biggest advantage of a rev box or aftermarket CDI, is that it lifts the rev limiter, unless you are riding up against the limiter all the time, it won't make much of an improvement, aside from higher top speed unless you compliment it with other mods to take advantage of the more aggressive timing curve. Like Bot said, open up the intake and re-jet, a new high flow intake is not too expensive either. A set of cams is a good upgrade too, they would really help you get the most out of the other little stuff, but they are a little more expensive.

2004 Polaris Scrambler 500 4x4 problem
DirtDemon replied to mudvayne110238's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
Doesn't sound right to me, 2wd should be 2wd. Mudvayne kicks as* by the way. I saw them a couple months ago, they were awesome. -
Don't feel bad man, this is sitting in my garage right now, when finnished, it will have no practical application either, but it is kind of fun to just build crazy stuff for no good reason.
-
BROMAGEDDEON, I like that, sounds so un-gay. BTW, I loved the remark you made about renting that backward trike to dig trenches, I know it was a joke, but you may just be on to something there.

2002 Quadrunner 500 4x4 Transmission issue
DirtDemon replied to Mudflap64's topic in Suzuki ATV Forum
Guide rods are cheap, it would be much easier to just replace them with new ones, if that is indeed the problem. Shift cam is a possibility as well, I guess you will find out when you tear it down. I wish you luck, keep us updated on your progress. BTW, I like the strobe lights, makes it look like it is intended for official business.- 14 replies

Good job, glad to hear everything is working.

You trikers certainly are a different breed aren't you? So much attitude, and abrasive sandpaper like love between you all. I have a CR 500 powered quad, that is enough of a handful, I don't think I would want that motor in a vehicle with less weight in the front whether it be a bike or a trike. I have enough trouble keeping the front end on the ground with two front tires. I can't tell you how many times I have nearly flipped over backwards because of an accidental donut wheelie.

I too like the look of the new hood, I would give it time to grow on you before you make up your mind. If you decide you really don't like it, you can fill the holes with a plastic welder, they are cheap and relatively easy to use, you need to make sure you use the right type of plastic though. Most atv plastic is polyethylene. There are different density grades, but they will all fuse to one another. Keep in mind, it may be hard to make it look perfect.
