oil for air filter?
Hi everyone, first and foremost, I want to thank everyone for all the help I've received. I am so glad I found this community. I also wanna apologize if I'm spamming the forum, I come up with questions as I go, I guess lol. So when I got my Recon, the air box was missing the lid, held together by zip ties, and the filter was ripped and nasty. I have since ordered a new air box assembly. It comes with everything: the box, lid, and filter ( the insert and the foam), and all the hardware necessary. This is the first time I've seen a metal filter inside a foam filter lol. However, my question is, I have read that you have to oil these filters? Every time I read it, it was always skimmed over, and I could not remember where I had read it. Is there a certain oil needed for this? Is the filter washable and reusable? Do I just stick the filter in oil, lol? Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question. Thanks in advance, y'all! -

03 Recon 250TM (Manual) locking up
Oil was drained and there were about 4 to 5 oz. of water in the crankcase but no sign of mixing with the oil. I put about 2 qts. of diesel into the crankcase and pulled the engine over by hand 20+ times and then drained that. Then I changed the filter and refilled with fresh oil.- 2

2000 honda recon battery charging
My equipment is at my cottage that I am at when possible. So I don't like 120 vac trickle chargers due to potential fire hazard. Mike explorer suggested this solar charger as an Option. I like it.- 1

2000 honda recon fourtrax 250
My first question would be is this an OEM or aftermarket carb. This procedure if for OEM carb, may work for aftermarket not sure. Most addjustments are done by ear you know when its running good and idling right, the settings are starting points, if not running good on recommended settings adjust accordingly. First step would be to make sure the carb is clean, very clean, not mostly clean. Pilot Screw Adjustment for the Recon 250 ('97 and up) This may also be suitable information for the same year 250SX quad. Note: -The pilot screw is factory pre-set. Adjustment is not necessary unless the carburetor is overhauled or new pilot screws are installed. -The engine must be warm for accurate adjustment. Ten minutes of stop-and-go riding is sufficient. -Use a tachometer with gradations of 50 rpm or smaller that will accurately indicate 50 rpm change. 1. Turn the pilot screw clockwise until it seats lightly, then back it out to the specification given. CAUTION: Damage to the pilot screw seat will occur if the pilot screw is tightened against the seat. TOOL: Pilot screw wrench 07908-4220201 INITIAL OPENING: '97 (except California type): 2 7/8 turns out '97 CA type: 2 3/4 turns out '98 - 2001: 2 5/8 turns out After 2001: 2 turns out 2. Warm the engine up to operating temp. 3. Stop the engine and connect a tachometer according to the tach. manufacturer's instructions. 4. Start the engine and adjust the idle speed with the throttle stop screw. IDLE SPEED: 1,400 +/- 100 rpm 5. Turn the pilot screw in or out slowly to obtain the highest engine speed. 6. Readjust the idle speed with the throttle stop screw 7. Turn the pilot screw in gradually until the engine speed drops 100 rpm. 8. Turn the pilot screw counterclockwise the number of specified turns. FINAL OPENING: '97 (except CA type) 3/4 turn out '97 CA type/'98-2001: 7/8 turn out After 2001: 1/2 turn out 9. Readjust the idle speed with the throttle stop screw. The throttle stop screw is on the right side of the carb. right behind the mounting stud where the carb. attaches to the intake rubber. The pilot screw is on the front center underneath the side close to the engine cylinder. The above info. was taken from Honda's '97-'04 Recon service manual, and I hope this helps.- 1

2000 honda recon battery charging
Yes you can just hook your jump starter box to the battery and crank it up. You can use a trickle charger on it ,leave it over night, if the battery is good will charge up. I have so much trouble withr these small batterys not lasting very long i have just been leaving the trickle charger on it when not in use. I usually use aa trickle charger that puts our 1.5 or 2 amp.- 1

Hey guys, so I've been messing with my quad, and between all the starts, the battery is dead. Is there a certain way to charge these? Can I just throw a trickle charger on it and call it a day? can i also jump it like a normal car with a battery pack or is that to much voltage -

2000 honda recon fourtrax 250
Hey guys i recently got a old recon 250 up and going and the prev owners had the carb screws all messed up. i was wondering if anyone can give me the basic run downs on if i turn both screws all the way "tightened" how many turns out will the quad run okay so i can then dial it in. the prev owner had the screws messed up so bad it woudnt idle. i got it to idle but idles rough. its super lean any guidence is appreciated -
